Courtney Stewart - Student Learning Paths: Self-Directed Learning in Online Courses

This session will demonstrate the application of self-directed learning paths for students in online learning environments where content is provided for students in their preferred learning style. The session will also share how the learning path tool was used in a master’s level online graduate course. Four different learning styles: Visual, Auditory, Reading, and Kinesthetic, were used in creating and delivering the course content. A student would choose a learning style path, where the content was delivered in the student’s preferred style. Assignments were also designed to pair with the preferred learning style. The session will share how the course was created and implemented throughout an online Canvas semester.You will learn about four different adult learning styles and how the learning path tool in Canvas can be used to provide a self directed educational experience. You will learn how content can be created for different student learning styles.
