There are active and passive learning processes. An example of active learning is having students prepare for a graded quiz. Having students answer non-graded iclicker questions is more passive. This past year, I started the “two answers and a question” method to start each classroom session. The students are picked at random and are then expected to state two items from previous sessions about material covered. They also must ask a question about the material previously covered. This provokes many additional questions from other students and helps to engage them into the current classroom session. This is a minimally invasive way to engage the students in active learning. In this session, you will learn an additional technique to assist in active student learning and review of course material.
